Typography project (I know its a sequel but they make more money so I added quotes!)

The beginning's beginning

When I started this project and was looking at quotes to choose from, I looked to movies, tv shows, and books for quotes that I felt I could relate to. I only was able to decide on 5 quotes because either I could not find one that I really liked or it was not appropriate for school (see: "Don't half *** two things, whole *** one thing" -Ron Swanson). The five that I found were: “I knew exactly what to do, but in a much more real sense I had no idea what to do.” -Michael Scott, “Not all treasure is silver and gold mate” -Captain Jack Sparrow, “It does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live” -Albus Dumbledore, “When I eat, it is the the food that is scared” -Ron Swanson, “Never tell me the odds!” -Han Solo. I ended up not using the meaningful one (Dumbledore's) because I liked the others more.

The Creation

During the actual production of the project was trickier, mostly because I just jumped into this class a semester later than everyone else (It's a long story don't ask). The hardest part was definitely the Aztec medallion from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (I know I didn't have to write the whole title but I love that movie and I know I wasted time writing this so oh poop). That part took a lot of intricacy with the pen tool. It had a lot of small lines and details, so I omitted a few details that I found difficult and unnecessary. I was able to learn quite a bit about illustrator through this project as I had barely used it before. Working in color was not too hard, all the color added was just changing fills so it wasn't too bad. I liked working in color more though.

The ending's ending

For the most part, I liked how they came out, I felt that the Ron Swanson quote could be a lot better but I don't know how so. I especially loved the Han Solo quote because of the Millennium Falcon silhouette.

What we did This past week we created another web page but this one was for a poem called "Another Reason I don't keep a gun in the House". We began by adding in the starting files and we then created new rules on the different parts such as the headings. Those got changed to different colors, sizes, etc. Once done we added some links and text of our own. The project was fairly easy and simple to be honest. At the beginning the site was just a white page with a dog picture and some text but by the end it had a black background with different text colors and a great variety. CARP Contrast is the first letter of CARP and boy was there variety in this project. The texts were different colors and the colors had great contrast with each of their respective background. A great example is the darker tan text on a light tan background. Another was the text sizes with each other. Alignment is the next letter, this relates to how the text was aligned. Color Wheel Activity in Adobe Illustrator

This past week in class we have been learning how to use Adobe Illustrator by creating a color wheel on it. We got started by creating a big circle and placing two large triangles inside it with one being upside down and dotted. After that we created three smaller circles and placed them on the points of the not dotted triangle. They were colored Blue, Yellow, and Red, the primary colors. On the other triangle's points we placed upon them three squares, colored Purple, Orange, and Green, these are the secondary colors and were placed in between the two colors that make the color. Following that there were the Tertiary Colors which was a mix of the secondary and primary colors which resulted in six triangles. The project was then saved and exported as a PNG-24. Never gonna give you up

Over the course of the past month my class has been working on recreating music videos. My group chose Rick Astly's Never Gonna Give You Up music video. In this blog post I will break down the process of the creation of the video. Pre-production Our pre-production was very busy once we picked the song and music video. Ryan was tasked with the story boarding, which is quite a feat considering how many different shots there are. That took close to a week. I did the filmscaping as I was the cinematographer. That took about twenty minutes, I also helped find the props. Alexis was there to tell us what to do, can't exactly remember what her document was that she had to do. Alexis and I then did the casting, which was mostly her friends, I tried to get my amigo Zeph to do it but he was like nope so we cast Nathan as Rick.
